Connecting Bridges was formed in October 2009 by foster parents who hope to help the fractured parts of Milwaukee's foster care system work together. Our primary and immediate goal is to help foster and adoptive children by helping their foster and adoptive parents. Another important goal is to help those trying to "mend" the Milwaukee County foster care system by helping those in it work together to more efficiently serve the children in the system. This second goal is why we chose our name, which symbolizes our desire to help build bridges that connect the fragmented parts of Milwaukee's foster care system.
We have contacts that may help you with an issue that you are facing. In addition, we would like to know your ideas regarding how we can help foster children or foster, adoptive or kinship parents. You can send us an email by clicking here.
We believe that foster parents benefit from regularly meeting with other foster parents. We call groups of foster parents who meet to put their "two cents" in about a variety of subjects "Little Penny Groups." We support these groups by reimbursing them for some of their costs, publicizing their meetings and putting them in touch with people who have successfully built and hosted such groups.
